For great shopping, head down to La Plaine district, which is located at the Place Jean Jaures. There are markets here on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and is a busy shopping area 6 days a week. Lots of pubs, restaurants and bars litter the area. Le Cours Julien is just up from La Plaine and is a favourite among the younger generation. The area has great cafes, cabarets and fringe theatres such as the theatre Chocolat. The Espace Julien stages concerts and is very busy. There is a wide selection of antique shops and fashion boutiques. Castellane is around the business district and this square at the end of Rue de Rome is busy 24 hours a day. With bars and cinemas such as the Cesar and Prado, there is a great buzz around this part of town. The district can be found around where Boulevard Baille crosses at the Prado. Le Prado is full of fine classy buildings around by the Boulevard Perier and the Rue Paradis. There is a racecourse here and the Parc Borely and its castle make room for the biggest open space in the city. La Corniche is a beautiful coast road area that sweeps along the Mediterranean coast and has many beautiful villas to admire. The MAC galleries are also here showing off its contemporary art. Lots of brilliant views and secluded beaches are around here. There are great walks to be had around Palais de Pharo and the Vallon des Auffes is a great surprise. The open sea views are terrific around La Corniche. |
