FOOD IN MARSEILLE
A little further away from the La Vieille Charite, which is located in the Panier
district, you will come across the Le Panier des Arts which offers the guest lovely
simple and yet so tasty cuisine. Going further, you will be greeted at the Etienne
Cassaro Pizzeria as if you were an old friend that was not seen around for a number of
years. The atmosphere is great and the people are very warm.
Across on the other side of the bank, there is the favourite Place aux Huiles, la Cote
de Boeuf and the Les Arcenaulx. These three local Marseille restaurants are typical to
what you will find all over Marseillle and are very popular with locals and tourists
alike. Patalin Restaurant, which is situated on the Rue Sainte, is known in the area as
a gastronomic institution in Marseille.
The coastal road is delightful to walk along with the waves of the sea lapping at your
feet, calling out to you. Around at the Malmousque Cove, there is a small restaurant
that is well hidden away in this neck of the woods and is worth discovering.
Alongside the Plage des Catalans beach one can come across the Chez Michel, Le
Petit Nice Restaurant, and the Chateaux de Marseille restaurant, which are truly
famous for their generous helpings of the fruits of the Sea. These seafood restaurants
are packed at weekends not only by tourists, but also by many of the locals who come
to taste the great seafood.
On the East side of the city around the Goudes district, one can admire the deep blue
sea flowing over the immaculate white rocks of the coast. Its much calmer out here
and there is a great restaurant here called the Chez Aldo restaurant, which is also a
great find in Marseille.
